Supporting a participant who needs a home?

Support coordinators, families and hospital discharge teams can send us the area, design category and support needs. We’ll check what may suit and talk through support if it’s needed.

How it works

  1. Explore the homes. Search below, then enquire about a home or tell us what you need.
  2. Check the fit. We check availability with the SDA provider, and that the home suits your SDA funding and support needs.
  3. See the home. You and your family can inspect it.
  4. Arrange the move. We work with you, your support coordinator and the SDA provider on the tenancy and move-in.
  5. Start your support. If you choose us as your support provider, we set up your support for when you move in.

Frequently asked questions

What is Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)?

SDA is housing designed for NDIS participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. It pays for the home, not the support inside it.

How is SDA different from Supported Independent Living?

SDA is the home. Supported Independent Living (SIL) pays for the support workers who help with daily tasks there. A participant can have one, both or neither in their plan.

Does the participant need SDA funding?

Yes. To live in an SDA home, the participant needs SDA funding approved in their NDIS plan, for the right design category and building type. Their support coordinator can check this.

Do I have to use Guided Steps for support?

No. Participants choose their own support provider. We are one option, and we can provide 24-hour staffing if you choose us.

Is a listed home guaranteed?

No. Availability, suitability and tenancy are confirmed with the home’s housing provider. A listing here doesn’t guarantee a place.

What if none of these homes suit?

Tell us the area and design category you need, and we’ll let you know what we can find.
