What is Supported Independent Living?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) pays for support workers who help you with everyday tasks in your home, whether you live alone or share with housemates. SIL pays for the support, not the house. The house itself is rent, or Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) if that’s in your plan.
What’s included
- Personal care and medication
- Cooking, cleaning and running the home
- Daily routines and building living skills
- Getting to appointments and activities
- Overnight and 24/7 support
Who it’s for
People who need a support worker with them around the clock, including overnight. SIL needs to be approved in your NDIS plan.
How we do it
- The same small team of workers, so you see familiar faces
- Clear progress notes, plus a summary before each plan reassessment
- Registered for SIL (0138)

SIL is funded from the Core Supports budget, under Assistance with Daily Life.
